Was TechCrunch Penalized By Google?

Joe Hall posted at Threadwatch that Google may have penalized TechCrunch, one of the most popular blogs on the internet.
He looked at SEM Rush and Search Metrics data for the past few months and noticed a significant drop in search visibility for TechCrunch in Google's search results.
Here is the three month chart from Search Metrics:

As you can see, the decline looks pretty significant, but to be honest, when it comes with news sites, stories can hit big one day and have a huge skew in the visibility it sees even in the search results.
TheNextCorner commented at Threadwatch and said if you look at the 2 year Search Metrics report, the recent decline doesn't look bad at all. He said, "but over 2 years, they still look quite good." Here is the chart:

Do you think Google penalized TechCrunch? Is it just less overall searches for what TechCrunch is covering? Less hot breaking stories? Or maybe it was is nothing?

Google+ News Shows In Google's News Web Results Box

Rob Garner posted publicly on Facebook an image of a new Google test where Google is showing news results from Google+ in the OneBox area for news content within web search results. Got all that?

As you can see, a search for [cory monteith] returns a standard news box, because of the recent news of his death. But below that, Rob is seeing news results from Google+ profiles about the news. I assume he follows Hollywood.com and others within his circles?

Google has been forcing Google+ results onto searchers, so this should be no surprise.

Microsoft Buys 8 SEO Domain Names

Microsoft has purchased eight domain names related to search engine optimization (SEO). I am not quite sure about the reasoning behind this move by Microsoft...

...the owner of the Bing.com search engine. There could be a few reasons, the most logical being brand and trademark protection, as I do not suspect that Microsoft is going to go into the search engine optimization business anytime soon.

Microsoft purchased 49 domain names today, and eight of the domain names were related to "search engine optimization" for their Bing.com search engine:

If you don't know what meta tags are, and what is the importance of adding meta tags, here is the detailed description on how to add them to your blogger(blogspot) blogs or any website.

Do you know adding meta tags is so important if you want to get more traffic from search engines like google,yahoo,msn,etc,especially the meta description is the most important one.

If you don't know what meta tags are,Meta tags are the tags which describes your site and tells the search engines what your site is all about.Adding meta tags is an important factor in SEO.(Search Engine Optimisation).Meta tags allows search engines to index your web pages more accurately. As you can observe.'Tips and tricks............' is the meta tags description which I added to my site.

We have to add two meta tags to the head section of the template.One is the Meta description which describes your site and another one is Meta Keywords which tells about your site keywords(what your site is all about)

1.Sign in to your blogger dashboard>click the 'layout' button[see the screenshot below]

2.Click on the 'Edit html' tab

KEYWORDS:Write the keywords of your blog
AUTHOR NAME:Write the author's name(Your name)

Several people were filling with just the keywords in the description.DON'T DO THAT.Google and other search engines will ban your site from the search engines list if you did so.And also,don't repeat the keyword more than 3 times.
